AI is a complete scam. Great for those on the ownership/development side, ruinous for everyone else.

Musk did the same thing in Buffalo. SMFH.

'The Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce, xAI’s leading local advocate, promised that the company would “bring up to 500 quality, high-paying jobs to Memphis in its initial phase.” '

"One" qualifies as "up to 500 quality, high-paying jobs." Classic weasel-wording. Not unlike "{brand} deodorant helps stop wetness." So does sitting around and not exercising, staying in a cold room, etc.

Musk is not a known promise keeper. More known to be a BSer. Looks to me like AI is a flash in the pan where the billionaires just get richer off the rest of us. Those companies are not making money, so I read. The thing they want to do and are doing is selling porn. Now that is making money-more distraction of the masses.

Having worked over 2 decades in IT & spent lots of time in data centers, I watched humans disappear from what was never (even early-2000s) a heavy staffing model. The lion’s share of admins working on servers do so from remote offices. There are precious few humans needed these days, save physical security guards, a few “hired hands” for installing + break/fix hardware troubleshooting 7x24, and then any systems ops folks who simply monitor for systems-related outages. The bulk of these staff are highly technical; in other words, it’s not a “coal mine to data center” transfer of skill & it’s anything but a “job catalyst” for any region (except the building trades fabricating the installation, but this is fleeting…)

👋 from Memphis where Musk's raping, pillaging and plundering of our community continues with the announcement of the acquisition of a third property. And, Brent Taylor, who is quoted in this article is among the most hateable (is that a word?) elected officials in the state - and there's a lot of competition for that.

Well sourced and researched - i appreciate the author's really simple approach to get data to try to get to the truth on the commitments made on employment.

Of all the ways science fiction depicted the use of AI, what it ended up being is propaganda

Absolutely love your Substack and much gratitude for your hard / honest work!! I had to snail mail a letter to Mark Zuckerberg during the Harris administration because he cut off my posting abilities on the threads platform

For one week at multiple times when I posted information about Elon along with supporting documents etc I was so livid
